Celebrating 90 years of Corr's Corner (EST: 1919)

The two families (McKeever's and Corr's) that made Corr's Corner what it is today are celebrating the roadhouse's 90th anniversary.

From its origins as a pub at the cross roads of the Ballyclare Road and Larne Line in 1919, it was handed down to John in the late 1950s who began serving food and the roadhouse tradition was born.
Eugene McKeever’s first glimpse of Corr’s was as a young boy who had been sent to weed the roses across the street from the roadhouse. John Corr saw how hard he worked and in 1966, when Eugene was just 12 he began work at Corr's Corner. He was head chef for 11 years but decided he wanted to start his own business. He said to his boss and friend John that he would be back to buy him out in a few years.
“I told him, if he really did come back I would sell it to him. He’s the only person I would have sold it to – I knew he would carry on the family tradition and make a success of it,” said John Corr.
Sure enough, in 1993 Eugene returned and bought Corr’s to run with his wife Catherine, who is a director in the company which also owns the Dunsilly Hotel in Antrim.

In the past few years, the McKeever family has spent £3 million adding 40 additional bedrooms, 8 conference rooms, a new reception area and renovating the restaurants and grill bar.
